About the Authors
N. Parthasarathi is an engineer and MBA who joined the Indian Police Service in 1980 and the Indian Foreign Service a year later. Across a diplomatic career of more than thirty years, he served as Ambassador to South Korea and Senegal, as Consul General in San Francisco, and as a diplomat in Pakistan, Belgium, Syria and the United Kingdom, along with postings in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Finance.
Anil Swarup is a retired IAS officer of the 1981 batch. He took his Masters in Political Science from Allahabad University, where he won the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and later the Director’s Gold Medal for Best Officer Trainee at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Over a thirty-eight-year career he served as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Coal, where he handled the aftermath of the coal scam, and subsequently as Secretary, School Education and Literacy.
